All visas and consular services for Italy are directly managed by Embassy of Italy in Islamabad and Italy’s Consulate in Karachi. To make the process easier for applicants, the Italy also works through the Italy Visa Application Center (VAC), which work in many major Pakistani cities.

Both short-term visas (for Schengen-visa, Tourism, or Business) and long-term visas (for national-study, work or family reunion) are handled through these official channels.

Applicants will have to book their appointments online using the official Italy visa portal (theitalyvisa.com). It is important to note that the embassy and consulate does not recognize any third-party agents or middlemen.

3. Italy Visa Application Centres (VACs) in Pakistan

These centres collect visa applications on behalf of the Italian Embassy and Consulate. They are operated by The Italy Application Centre.

4. Visa Fees (Italy – Schengen & National)

Visa fees follow the standard Schengen system:

  • Schengen Visa (Type C, adults): €90
  • Children aged 6–12: €45
  • Children under 6 years: Free
  • Service Fee: Additional charges apply for VAC services (amount published on booking portal).

For long-term national visas, fees differ depending on the purpose (study, function, family reunion, etc.). Applicants should confirm the update amount before applying.

5. How to Apply for an Italian Visa in Pakistan

  1. Go to the official portal theitalyvisa.com.
  2. Complete the online visa application form.
  3. Book an appointment at your nearest Visa Application Centre.
  4. Visit the VAC on your scheduled date with all required documents and provide biometrics.
  5. The Embassy in Islamabad or the Consulate in Karachi will process your application.
  6. If necessary, you may be called for an interview or asked for more documents.
  7. Once a decision is made, collect your passport from the VAC.

6. Required Documents

Though requirements differ by visa type, the usual documents include:

  • Completed application form with appointment confirmation slip
  • Valid passport with copies
  • Recent passport-sized photographs (biometric standard)
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or invitation)
  • Travel itinerary and return flight booking
  • Travel and medical insurance valid for the Schengen area
  • Proof of financial means (bank statements, sponsorship letters, etc.)
  • Visa fee payment + VAC service charges
  • Legalized or apostilled documents (depending on category, especially for family reunion and work visas)

7. Important Tips

  • There is no shortcut or backdoor entry for Italian visas—always apply through the Embassy, Consulate, or official VACs.
  • Avoid fraud: Never trust WhatsApp numbers, Facebook pages, or agents offering appointments.
  • Since November 2024, Italy requires Pakistani documents to be apostilled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) before submission.
  • Work visas may face delays if employment approvals are still under verification in Italy. Applicants can still collect passports if needed.
  • For family reunion visas, Italy has introduced a waiting list registration system (effective from April 2025).
